Description

My son and I hiked up the south fork of the Merced River last week. I missed the glorious wildflower bloom he said happened last month, but there were still some beauties around. I don't know what this is, but I loved it.

Ultra clarity, lighting and vivid colors in this macro, M. Resembles red chili peppers but that definitely can't be what they are.

lol, I'm sorry Bill isn't having much luck in his garden (maybe his birds ate it all!) Well, I'm in a highrise, so I don't even have a garden...but this is a strange & quirky thing, and I'm not sure if those spindly hairy things are part of the plant or some colonies that took residence in it. Some biologists told me that flowers, before domestication, looked much more like this than our roses, tulips, etc; and that fruits were more like berries—small, primal and highly concentrated—than like our opulent citruses, apples, melons, etc. This is definitely primal. And it does resemble chili peppers! Fascinating capture of untouched nature. Oh—and great new avatar! A joyous & wild shot. Man, between you and Harry and Denise and Ronnie and Tara and a few others, I'm beginning to feel like an old guy from the 18th C. who still uses a horse & buggy. Out, out, damned avatar! Away with your brush and green framing! What will I replace it with? Me riding the mighty Chicago River? I'll have to work on it. Your avatar is very happy...nice job.
