Description

There were lots of these little blooms along the Merced River last week. Jordan said it had been one of the biggest widlflowers seasons in a long time. I missed most of it, but it was easy to see where they were. I think he called this "rhodea", but I googled it and couldn't find a match. Either my spelling, or it was a different flower he pointed out---I lost track after a while!!

well you're gonna be shocked that I actually know a flower's name, but there is a flower from my landscaping days called rhodea japonica, and its flowers do look a bit like this. (There's also a great drive.) (Rhodea Drive???) (I'll move on...) Anyway, the shot is almost like a digital painting, it's so bursting; and the light in the center is luminous. The stamens look like a whipped cream confection! I agree with Andrea: This is ripe for some wabagoon photomanipulation: Let me at it, I'll have it destroyed in no time (lol). A real eye popper of a shot. And it's really nice that we still have lands with genuine wildflowers, growing untouched. They remind us how primal nature really is...
