Description

Slow tears Dripping like hot wax From a candle There is music in my ears But I can only hear The song you left in my heart Devastated from the rain But I don’t want to come in from the cold I feel like my soul owes a debt That I don’t deserve To be warm today That I must pay for my sins By feeding the beast That is killing me on the inside How can someone You love so much Just stop loving you How can I keep carrying a flame When you know longer feel the heat How long do I have to hurt This is a very bad attempt at showing a candle dripping with hot wax. Lol sorry about that I still hope you like the poem. Randy

I like the image! It's what brought me to the poem. When I read this I read deep hurt, but I also think that the speaker is one small step closer to healing. He is at least to the point of feeling the rain and seeing the shelter even though he refuses to take it. He's in the "I'm so miserable, I don't deserve to be happy." But that's better than "All is misery, happiness doesn't exist." Unfortunately, people can stay in this self denying stage for a long time. This is well written with great expression of pain.
