Description

MacKenzie's alter ego pirate hunter, The Black Rose, wears an old suit of armor made famous by a group of female Davinchian clan bounty hunters known as the Tisiphone Watch. Davinchians tend to be incredibly technically skilled humans, and the Tisiphone Light Combat Suit makes the most of those skills. The suit contains dozens of microtransmitters and a powerful computer woven into the helmet, accessible through pupil movements via 3-D interface on the goggles. The computer is a hacker's dream, allowing the wearer to tap into all kinds of local computer networks. MacKenzie is able to shut down power grids, open and close doors, scramble networked computer systems and hack defense systems all without apparently lifting a finger. The suit also uses an electromagnetic propulsion system that uses EM fields to repel the user away from the ground, hover, and fly at subsonic speeds. Fortunately for MacKenzie, the suit also has a combat computer that assists in targeting and uses fuzzy logic to estimate a target's motion, helping to lead her shots. Because, despite the Black Rose's reputation as a successful hunter, MacKenzie would have trouble fighting her way out of a wet paper bag with a laser torch. Thus, the Black Rose regularly asserts that physical violence is "unprofessional" and "for amateurs." One limitation of the suit is that it pretty much must be used around lots of technology to operate, and needs the high level of electromagnetics put out by a city full of power sources, metal and magnetic fields. In the wilds, or on planets with little or no advanced tech, the armor is virtually useless beyond providing good ballistic and energy dissipation protection.
