Description

I just finished a wonderful creative writing class. It's the first time I've done anything like this and it was a great experience, I learned a lot, and met people who wanted to do the same things I want to do. I wrote this for them. The Class A big group to start Winnowed down Over the weeks To just us few Makes it more Personal Easier to relate Sharing our thoughts Ideas Dreams Or our nightmares Purging our souls Baring our hearts Telling our tales Connecting so easily With each other Understanding why We’re here What we’re doing Giving good words Offering encouragement This class Came together For the same reasons To write down words In one form or another Our own reasons For doing so So thank you One and all For listening Reading Writing Thinking And wanting to do it 6/25/09

And your prose writing above shows all of the great skills which you have learned. The inclusion of the 'school days' alphabet which was always on the wall of every classroom, is a really creative addition.

I am sure even the teacher learned alot. You, for one, went into that class on solid footing. I'd love to hear what you think you learned. I'd like to take such a class...just haven't looked for one yet:)

Oooh, anything with writing always draws me. And what you wrote here is a great, heartfelt tribute to the class, and I'm quite positive that you're a vital part of it. Anytime there's a culling of students in a voluntary class, those who stay with it are usually the ones who go on and apply all of the stuff learned to every element of life imaginable. That's always a good thing. My only question is: Did you have to do that exercise where you had to write a story from the perspective of an inanimate object and use language to reflect the absence of human perception? I always hated that exercise, because I never got the fun objects... Your image reminds me of something that I'd been thinking of off an on in regard to writing, literature, and all of that stuff. I'm a HUGE fan of Samuel R. Delany (and his nickname is Chip, which is a good sign.) But in his writing, he always explores things such as the import of literacy into a culture, and for some reason, the image made me think of the character pryn, who knew something of writing, but nothing of capital letters. I've been sparking random thoughts like that all night long, and two entries in your gallery took me from Jane Sibery to Samuel R. Delany. That's a good thing, now all I have to do is go to youtube and see if there are any Jane Sibery videos to watch! Great work!

You know I wouldn't trade my talent for any other talent in the world. I can open my soul for the whole world to see. I can purge my sins and set myself free with the stroke of the pen. writting lets us share our journey with others and get to share their's. You have this wonderful talent my friend and I want to thank you for letting us share in your journey

it's great to see the writers respond here, such a joy and exuberance. (And oh, do I know those assignments Chip speaks of. The writer's version of Method Acting; except in acting it really helps the actor get into character; but in writing, I'm not so sure!) Some writing groups can be assaulting, it's so nice you got the other kind. And your poem captures the sense of group discovery & feelings, which you highlight with your one word lines, separating them & making them each breaths of joy, so to speak. Yeah isn't it nice how a bunch of completely different people gather in one place, and for a short time they share intimate things through words? Very sweet upload, and the visual fits perfectly too.
