Description

Wisconsin Dells This place is probably one of the largest tourist traps in the country, and it became that way because of this. I have to admit that I’ve gone and enjoyed the water parks and go carting, but this place has so much more to offer. Neither Cheri nor my mom had ever been on the upper Dells tour, so we did that today. This is one shot I managed to wrestle the camera away from Cheri to get; it just looks and feels so ancient in and around these rock formations,.....and so beautiful! I’ll let Cheri pass on the tutorial about the area. It was great to go on another adventure with mom and her, seems like we’ve been doing a lot of that lately. I’m certain Cheri will be posting several from the Dells, and I’m so looking forward to it, because you will be awed by them. This is just a mild warm up to what she’s going to do. No snakes, lizards, giraffes or other minor distractions. Thanks much for the peek, hope you all have a great weekend! Dave

Ah yes, you all know how much fun I have holding class. I have a great seal of information regarding the Wisconsin Dells, both historical and scientific. This was a great shot Angel, but I am a camera hog, sorry.

What a wonderful shot! I love the pov and the composition, the repetitive bands of light and dark, the light vertical branches against the strong horizontal of the rocks. Aside from all that sort of thing, the mood you've captured is great! It seems quiet and solemn and somehow heavy, like we should be paying attention. Glad to hear you and Cheri had a good time with your mom!

Nice photo! It kinda reminds me of the rocks in 300, just with a lot of green and no hot looking men! :)

Great capture Dave! Wonderful scene. Sounds like you had a great time! I take most the pictures, but when I get tired I give the camera to Bill, and let him take some he gets some good shots too. We have had it 6 months now been fun.. We took like 240 yesterday and 270 when we went the sand castles... LOL overload!

The Dells are wonderful and quite intriguing. I've always imagined another world lurking in all of that sandstone, moisture, and greenery. This is a wonderful photograph of that as it captures so much of what I imagine. Great clarity and your use of low, shadow-riddled light is fantastic. As Number Two in your gallery, it's an incredibly strong piece that I like quite a lot! Fantastic work, and as expected, I'm anxiously awaiting more!

Very cool shot, this is a fascinating place, I agree that there's an ancient, yet somehow peaceful feel to this photo. That must be really cool to see in person.

WOW. This is an excellent shot, and it makes me think of one of those episodes of the X Files where Mulder and Scully have to track some mysterious creature who feeds of precious brain juice through a forest that never seems to end. The rocks are bold and domineering in this, but that's a part of really makes this work for me. Great POV.
