Description

This is my mum, some of you have met her before. She will be 82 this year. She hasn't been too well for a while. She has been spending time wondering where the years have gone and thinking of her childhood and family, especially those no longer with us. Her surprise this weekend was to was to take her to her maman and grandpa's home where she spent time helping them out and playing with her brothers and sisters when they were all young. Her grandparents were born around the 1850/1860's. They lived in this cottage and used to wave the train through which was heading into St Helier. My Island is only 9 miles by 5 miles so we no longer have trains. My mum enjoyed taking their large milk can up to the nearby farm so her grandparents had their milk. Her grandpa was called Frank Amy and her maman (granny) was called Amy Amy! Fancy a girl called Amy marrying Mr Amy lol Their daughter Ruby ( my granny) born 1900 (passed away 1945) married Stanley Godfray born 1896 and my delightful mum was one of their 7 children!! I went to the cottage yesterday and left a note in the door and the very kind lady who rents the house invited us to take photo's today. A great weekend for both of us so thought I would share it with you :) Susan Thank you for your support on my previous post " Fox Glove "thumb_1905884.jpg

A nice bit of the day to present her with for her memories. At that age it seems beyond all the friends they knew that are gone remain the memories that fade just as fast. Best gift to someone of aged years you can give is a spark to bring back something they already had enjoyed - the past. Excellent photo!

What a wonderful capture and story. You have just created a classic piece of history with both, without realising it. Cherish this as it will become a prized heirloom some day. :o)

She looks remarkable for her age! A wonderful capture and one to cherish. We did the same thing for Sylvia's Dad, we took him around York. His parents house, the house he brought up his children in. the church he married in and even walked around his old school which incidentally is still there to educate the local children, he talked and talked to all the teachers about his childhood there! he loved it!
