Description

The Olympic Stadium was built to welcome the 1976 Montréal Olympic Games. Its imposing structure includes the Tower or Observatory, which is the highest inclined tower in the world, with its 175-metre elevation and 45-degree angle. However, it wasn’t until more than 10 years after the Olympic athletes left this Québec city that the Montréal Tower Observatory opened to the public in 1987. The huge botanical garden faces the Tower. Here the fountains of the garden counterpoint the Tower. Thank you for your kind comments.

Amazing. I never knew this existed. I am not sure I like it aesthetically. It is ornamental and an oddity for sure. Glad you posted it. Did you venture up in it? Sorry...having trouble spelling tonight:)

This is a great shot Sandra. I hadn't seen the fountains before. If I remember, and the older I get - I am wrong a lot, the Olympic Velodome stadium was converted to a baseball stadium for the Montreal Expos. This tower was going to be used to lift the roof off the baseball stadium on sunny days????? Dana

Impressive audacity of architects in 1976 with such a dare to build a round so inclined, that the arrow of its mass is "at the outside" of the basis of support of this building ! GREAT and IMPRESSIVE shot !!! I like more these splendid fountains !!!
