Description

This is from the same quarry That my falls came from , in case you missed those copy and paste this in your browser. http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1900390&member There was a keep off the rocks sign, but that was the only way to see this, and snap a photo of it. Granite is very slippery, especially when damp. It was sprinkling just prior to this. I can see from this rock the reason why they choose this for Ulysses Grant's Tomb and Robert E. Lee's. This granite is beautiful. So, in order to capture this, I had to go into ninja photographer mode and climb those rocks. Thank you for all the comments on my previous posts, they all mean so much to me. I am sorry I haven't been able to comment much. I will catch up tomorrow. I have the day off whoo hoo. The last four days, I have been working a lot and have been so tired. Have a great night. Your friend always, Cheri

Reasonable safety rules do not apply to photographers, so far as I can tell. How could we possibly get the shots we want if we paid attention to every little sign in the world? LOVE the colors of that granite. Gorgeous! It was worth the risk ... after all, you didn't fall, did you? There. You see, they were worried for nothing.

We have a lot of granite quarries here in Wisconsin, but I've never seen the likes of this before. There is so much color, and various shades and hues within this stone. It's very beautiful, and so unusual. For those that may have concerns about Cheri's ninja like sneaking about, beyond the keep out and keep off signs, there is really nothing to worry about. I am always there, and watching.....if she were to slip and/or fall, I can assure you that I would make sure the camera did not suffer any damage and get the shots that were taken to you. Oh yeah,.......I'd make sure she'd be well taken care of afterwards too!

Dazzling granite. I know it is pink in your photo...does it appear as pink once cut? Somewhere I have an ancient postcard...probably 100 years old...of Grant's Tomb in NYC. You can't trust colors in 100 year old postcards...they took pictures in B&W and hand colored them prior to lithographic printing.

That is a beautiful rock wall!!!!! Outrageous colors and shapes!!!!! I love rock climbing (or more accuratly used to) so I can understand the appeal of scrambling over these obstacles to reach your ultimate goal of artistic realization!!!!!! Wonderful work!!!!!!

This is extremely beautiful, Cheri! And all along I had taken granite for granted. Never again! Love the multifaceted textures and the whole composition.

I love ninja photography, and I also love granite quarries. Back in Prague, the cobblestones (that are everywhere) are carved from granite, and yeah...that stuff's slipperier than a snail's belly when wet. This is a gorgeous shot, and I love the pink color; it reminds me of great, slabs of geologic salmon, ready for grilling.
