Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I have no idea what they are either, but I've seen cookies in Prague that look like them. Funny how flowers and cookies can be so intimately linked in some parts of the world. I love the yellow here. I find it difficult to get a fair representation of yellow in photography. It's a lot like red in that it really needs a delicate touch to come out just right without aliasing all over the place. Hmmm...does the term aliasing apply to photography? I guess it does now. Anyway, this is fantastic. As always, your sense of color is spot on, and I love the light. You do this light/color thing perfectly every time. From the detail, it looks like you got pretty close to this beauty, which makes me wonder: is it a smallish blossom? At any rate, I like it immensely.

In the immortal words of Donovan: "They call me mellow yellow, quite right-ly." There's something very spooky about this picture and I can't quite put my finger on it: the flower looks a little bit carnivorous, maybe; like it lures you with its scent and then bites you on the nose. It's that red center I think. It's a very nice capture. Now that I think of it, maybe I should have quoted something from Little Shop of Horrors.

well, can't beat chip, though I agree with the others too, and I like Corey's reference to "Little Shop of Horrors," lol...It's pretty straight forward, but it packs a punch, and the lighting on this thing really makes it bold and forward, and it comes right at us. A real blast in the eyes, yet with real beauty. And I don't know who's right, but whatever flower it is, you caught it in a very powerful way, that's for sure.
