Description

...and it came to pass that a bird dreamt of a great hole inside a tree. And she looked into the tree and said to it: "What do you want of me?" And the tree answered: "These swirls you see are the patterns of every living thing: Dream of me, and one day I'll create the most beautiful world you've ever seen."
So she sat for ages and dreamt & dreamt and the Universe came into being... * * * * * * For my dear friend's daughter, Sumaji. Get well, sweetness. We will pray for your exquisite dreams... Thank you, all, for all your support. I'll return to your wonderful galleries tonight, Mark (Photoshop)

This is glorious. I see many comfortable, warm hands or fingers holding and protecting all around the edges. There is also a nestled sort of feeling with the egg shape loop that reminds me of a womb, which to me is significant since it promotes dreams of new life and youth. Very appropriate for a dedi to your friend's daughter. Well done.

There is magic inside of trees as they have such natural wisdom, scarred and bent from life and yet still growing strong. I like the wings, as if the tree and all the wishes whispered beneath it are being embraced by a kind of angel. And the rich crimson colors remind me of the life force of blood. A very moving image and tribute. CC

I could stare a this for hours. You pack so much into your paintings - they should come with an extrication manual... Freeform work of wonder!

Wow Mark this has got to be one of the most beautiful gifts anyone could ever hope for. I know your friend's daughter Sumaji will be equally touched by this dream like vision you've created as I am. It would be so easy to get lost in these magical swirls

The colors and textures are exceptional and remind me of rich Indian cotton fabrics. I love the section that seems to be textured like peeling bark, and the rings that remind me of the passage of time. I can see the bird in the edge of wings in flight, and also in wings folded over, and maybe I can make out a dove of peace as well. Inside the tree I see a lot of divine sparks and swirling movement. I can even imagine a long boat with historical figures of people praying. Well, that's what I see . . . I love the story and I think it states what I admire most about your art. Not only are your designs skilled, you take us to such exciting places, on deeply internal voyages or on journeys that reach outward into the universe (though maybe that's all one in the same). Your designs are something special to experience. They radiate. What a special gift with warmth, mystery, and healing emanating from its core. This is another top favorite of my favorites in your gallery so far.

Overwhelmingly awesome in its massive and magenta way, Mark! Also, pray for our babuci/tunde, who, according to her last message to me, was languishing in an Australian hospital, and not getting any better. Hopefully, she will soon turn it around.

Do you remember ... I once said I thought your work should be printed on silk banners and hung from the ceiling on rods with tiny bells trailing from the hangars ... a three dimensional installation I could walk around and experience with more than just my eyes ... something to catch every breeze, to swirl around and express the life that you've put into your art ... ... that's the answer to the question you asked me about your recent art ... about what's different ... Ever since you've been doing this sort of thing, I've seen it on gossamer silk, floating gently in response to the people who are looking at it, breathing in its essence, walking by ... and I can't resist fabric ... ... I got a bargain price on ... dots ... and thought I'd share them with you, my friend ... they're so ... moody, don't you think? ".... .. ....., .. ....... ...... ... ..... .. ... ......" (Okay, the dots are ... well ... yes. But I'm serious about the art.)

this leaves me breathless .. it swirls like creation .. unformed, yet there are things here that you just see, wings, wind, bones, beings, whorls that will be worlds, and it's all contained in a tree .. it's rings tell the stories of eons .. it's beautiful in early morning muaves and roses ... May Sumaji's dreams be as beautiful as she heals ..

I want to fly, soar as high as I can, feel the thrill of flight; this swirls and twists and takes me away. It's magic, a fantasy, a dream and a stunning work for Sumaji!! ( and what a beautiful name she has!!)

A beautiful image and narrative for Sumaji! I've looked long at it both in it's entirety and in zoom. There are patterns and colors to get lost in. I love the overall tear drop shape and the depth going into the image. The serrated edges on the right make me think of grass and other growing things, the white streakiness on the left, of water. I see wood grain in all the variegated lines. Great complexity and motion! Beautiful story, which brings even more meaning to your excellent image!
