Description

We were sitting, waiting for dusk and the fireworks on the fourth, and kept noticing the Ferris wheel across the bay. I realized that just like life, even a Ferris wheel has its ups and downs, with delays at times, no matter which way you were headed either up or down.. holding one in place, stationary as if in one of life's ruts. The seat always sways a bit at these stops, making you feel uncomfortable even though you know you are safe. This is for you M'lady, may your ups always outnumber the downs, and the ride through life always be lit. I would love to be as the bar across your lap....holding you always safe!

This is a great photo: I've never managed to photograph ferris wheels, but then that might have something to do with the fact that I don't often see them, or if I do, I'm probably more interested in the roller coasters, if they are around. But that's just me. As for this image, it's fantastic. I love the low light, twilight feel of it. It has a kind of Ray Bradbury-style romance to it, like something you'd see in Green Town, Illinois, or wherever else Bradbury placed a lot of his stories. I love the subtle gradations of orange to salmon to pink. The shimmering reflection is perfect. After reading through the comments here, and knowing that you have yet to purchase a tripod, I can say that improvisation works incredibly well. In Prague I was known to carry a folding chair around, and here in Chicago, I've learned never to underestimate the value of a tall, empty Pringle's can. Those usually work, as do those tall, skinny beer glasses they use in Prague, but alas...I don't have any of those around. This is superb work!
