Description

Hi, thanks for stopping by. "Mountain Flight" - cheesy name for sure. Not feeling too original this morning. I'm continuing to work through the Quadspinner tutorials for Vue. There is a lot of information there. The last 1/4th of the "Capturing the Brilliance of Light" tutorial is devoted to volumetric atmospheres and godrays. I spent some time working though that in detail and here is the result. One procedural terrain, still mostly working off the free tutorial on the terrain fractal. Spectral atmosphere with one cloud layer and rendered with Volumetric sunlight and Global Radiosity. Rendered in Vue7i, at 'final' quality level. Quality on the atmposphere was +4 and quality on the lighting was +2. I kicked the final off before bed last night so it's somewhere in the neighborhood of eight hours. The excellent F-16's are from Bazze with materials tweaked in Vue. They are available at the renderosity marketplace. If you haven't checked out the free tutorial available at http://www.quadspinner.com - I highly recommend having a look. Thanks, as always for your comments and critique. Both are much appreciated.

In my youth I dreamed of becoming an Air Force fighter pilot, now I have a slight fear of heights. Great image, looks like a shot from a movie.

It's hard to believe you're working through tutorials as this is so gorgeous, especially the volumetrics. I love the detailed terrain. For some reason the jets look a little off to me - can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe they're too sharp? Or perhaps too large? Or maybe I'm just goofy in the head. I'm just not sure. Cannot fault a single other thing. The lighting is just exceptional. I totally understand about the title. I can't come up with good names for my images to save my soul.
