Description

Ok yesterday's monarch post was our visitor from a few days ago. Look what she left for us to watch out for. We found one caterpillar so far. Tomorrow we are going on a cocoon hunt. Dave thinks perhaps in the mulberry tree. If we find any I'll ninja photograph those too and share. Thank you for stopping and taking a look. Thank you for all the wonderful comments, they mean so very much to me. Your friend always, Cheri

As I said in yesterdays post, We've had the monarchs flitting about the yard year after year, always hanging about the milkweed. We've even seen evidence from the munched on leaves, that they'd laid eggs here, just never until yesterday ever seen one of the caterpillars. You can see on the portion of the leaf below it, that this one had a great lunch. We let the milkweed grow, just so they butterflies come back each year. We'll have and abundance of seed pods this year, if any of you would like some for your own garden, please site mail Cheri and let her know. No ninja photography needed for this capture, even I can move faster than these guys!! Perfect sweetie!!

I recently found one Monarch chrysalis and moved it to a cage for safety until it hatched. I see lots of caterpillars, but the chrsysalis' are hard to find.

They are said to lay their eggs on Milkweed .. as that's what the caterpillars will eat. Look under the Milkweed leaves. What a fantastic capture .. the Ninja Photographer wields her weapon well!!

Wow, with all those exclamation marks I figured you had captured something really special, Cheri. Terrific POV and clarity; lots of leaves to munch on, and I love that segmented caterpillar body!

I like caterpillars quite a lot, and this one is spectacular! I love the colors, the stripes and the AM/FM antennas, at least that's what I think they are, though the rear appendages look as if they're set up to monitor neutrino flux or something...well...maybe not, but insects and their larvae always look so incredibly sophisticated! Fantastic details and great contrasts. As always, really great work!
