Description

We had a special visitor a few days back, she came in for the milk weed of course. They come back every year,The last three years we have been letting some milk weed grow for them. They always return to where they came from. That's were they lay their eggs. Then their babies come back. The milk weed also drew a hummingbird, the first one I have ever seen in person. I was so awed by it's appearance, I never went for my camera. Dave said they would be back. I am thinking about putting a feeder out there too. There has to be more of them some where close right? Ok here I go again, on and on. I need to say Happy Be-lated Birthday to Tennessee Cowgirl. Sorry I missed it, but I'm marking my calender for next year Lynell. I hope your birthday was great! Thank you for stopping by for a look. Thank you for all the comments on my previous posts, I cherish each and every one of them. Have a most wonderful evening. Your Friend Always, Cheri

We've seen them flitting about each year, but have yet to see the result of their presence, this little lady stopped by for an extended stay, and Cheri, all dressed up in her ninja garb, snuck in and grabbed a few shots without the butterfly ever knowing she was there. Cheri threw down a smoke bomb when she had finished and disappeared from whence she came.......or something like that. I apologize to everyone for Cheri not posting last night, we live next door to an apartment building, that apparently now has a hacker residing within. We were on a wireless network here, seemed the easiest to do, but this crafty individual tapped into our network, renamed it and made him/herself the administrator, placing us at their whim. The issue has been resolved, and should pretty much be impossible for a future attack, but it got so late last night, that Cheri was unable to post this. Personally I'm hoping to hear some gnashing of teeth, from those next door, as they all realize their free internet is no longer in existence. Sweet shot baby, she's a beauty!!

Beautiful capture. Love the colors. If you are making a birthday calendar, you should publish it at the end of the year. Dana

What a pretty visitor! If you saw a hummingbird, and you put out a feeder, you should see it again. Make sure you read up on hummingbird feeders ... they have to be spotlessly clean ... and you will be rewarded! They're territorial, so if they stake out your place, you're good to go! (The hummingbirds are territorial, not the feeders.) :P

Totally fantastic! I know how hard it is capture a butterfly .. they seem to have such sharp vision and gone at the slightest movement. Wonderfully crip capture!! So sorry to hear about the idiot hacker next door .. not being satisfied to just steal bandwidth .. but to rename your network and name him/herself as admin is really nefarious, nasty, and evil. What goes around, comes around, so you have to nothing, the fates will do it all.

Lovely capture of the Monarch butterfly. When we lived in our old place we had them around for several years. My wife went out and brought a heap of the swan plants that they live on and when the catapillers had eaten them all(as they were only baby plants) she went and bought a whole lot more. We had catapillers and chrysalises all over the house and plants..Was nice having them around.

Stellar sterling clarity and composition in this macro of what looks to be a Monarch buttie, Cheri. Seems to be having a field day with the milkweed.

Great job on the Monarch. Years ago I lived in Monterey, CA...tons of them would come every year. In Kansas...at least where I live...zip, none:-) I've been too lazy to get the hummingbird feeder out this year but if you do put one up you will be rewarded.
