Description

After reading thru and following a tutorial on creating waves using Bryce, I decided to try a render with them. Believe me, getting all of the terrains lined up, matched and connected to each other is nerve-wrecking, but when it finally all comes together, the results are well worth the trouble. I've used jedswindell's 'Ketch' and chris34's sail boats in the render. Both can be found in the Bryce Free Stuff, here at RR. After applying a desired water mat to the terrains, I duplicated the entire wave terrain and moved it slightly from the original and applied the Ocean Foam mat from the Atmospherics section. You have to tweak that mat considerably to get the desired effect. A front & side wave effect was created for the bow of the Ketch using another terrain. I'm very pleased with the result I was trying to achieve. Thanks for viewing and for any comments you care to leave. They are much appreciated. Great. However, the water looks more like quicksilver than water. I would assume reflection is a faster rendering alternative to true transparency. But I think some added transparency would look more like real water. Very nice wave pattern and nice work reconciling the terrain water surface with the horizon.

This is really fabulous work Keith and I know from experience that making waves in Bryce is by no means easy. I think the waves look marvellous in this one and the quicksilver look mentioned by rashadcarter only serves to enhance an already excellent image. I can almost feel myself rocking too and fro on deck as the race progresses. I'm particularly in awe of the contrast in the sky, the bright light to the top right gives way to a more darkened atmosphere on the horizon which is reflected in the sea. To me this gives the impression that a storm will shortly be following our intrepid race-goers. I feel that this is one of your best Bryce works to date and is definately a fave for me. Tony.

You have every right to be pleased with the result - superb waves! Bryce terrains are still the easiest to work with of all the programs I've used, but you've really outdone yourself with these...
