Description

The Arboretum has so many wonderful places to just hang out and watch the world go by. Denise and I were wandering along the water's edge when these kayakers came around the corner. I stood there snapping off shot after shot, which prompted Denise to ask me why I was taking so many pictures of these guys. It was the paddles ... I wanted to see if I could get them in synch or perfectly opposite, with the reflections in the still water. When I got home and looked at these shots, I realized that the guy in front was staring at me the whole time I was taking his picture! I'm a perfectly innocent-looking middle-aged woman just out for an afternoon at the park, minding my own business, taking pictures of ducks. What did he think - that I was going to post his picture on the internet or something?? Oh ... ummm ... never mind! :D

You know what he is really thinking 'Wow that woman thinks I am really hot' You know it's going through his head, you can see it on his face. LOL. Really nice shot.

It's always funny when people get suspicious about people with cameras. In Chicago they become hostile, usually barking "What are you doing?" as if you standing with a camera, taking close up pictures of violets or something isn't a clue. Ah, but no one ever said that half the Chicagoans here are particularly bright. Anyway, I digress. This is well seen and quite gorgeous. I love the colors and the symmetry of the paddlers/paddles and their reflections. The "prey caught in the photographer's line of sight" expression on the guy's face is great! Fantastic color! Great subject.

boy if I ever meet with some of you guys, I better watch everything I say and do: I'm liable to wind up in front of the whole world! This is a wonderful shot, and I agree with chip about the visual part of it too. The guy's look is just right for someone curious but not so much that he's about to leave his kayaking...and the visual, the longitudinal size, the wonderful reflections, your choice of letting the water go nearly to the top of the shot, and allowing the stark whites to be stark whites, not to mention the near symmetry of the oars (thanks, chip!)...this is fine photography. Really nice summery piece.
