Amazing results this morning! Ten (10) House Finches at once! You'll notice one with a red head...that is the one mature male of this little flock. BIG improvement when ZOOMED. A day ago I had gone with safflower seed in the orange bowl and my "old" songbird mixture with lots of black sunflower seeds in it in the wooden bird feeder. This resulted in songbirds coming to the orange bowl but my old squirrels and grackles raiding the bird feeder to include knocking the roof off frequently. Today I swept the bird feeder clean and put white safflower seed in both the bowl and the feeder. The squirrels and the grackles look and leave!!! Was only going to post two photos today but couldn't resist bragging a little here:-))) I must admit the focus is not up to par but it is just plain difficult to capture an area of this size and know what to focus on with your zoom lens zoomed. How fascinating! I serve several sorts of foods, mainly in squirrel-proof feeders, and we have quite a variety of visitors. the trouble is I'm no good at getting bird pics!
