Description

It was a dark day for my last flight from Seattle to Portland, but there was Mt. Saint Helens, sticking up above the lower deck of clouds. Now, what to do with the flat, zero-contrast images shown at the bottom? The captures were less than a second apart, so the parallax is minimal. The images are placed in different layers, and then the "difference" function is used to help align them. The whole image will turn black after the top layer has been turned and slid around to match the bottom perfectly. Then all you do is switch from "difference" function to "overlay," and voilĂ ! The top image shows the result: twice the contrast, twice the saturation, and no added speckle. And IMO it was worth it: that blasted mountaintop sticking through the white cushion grabbed my eye in flight, and I'm glad to be able to share it with y'all.

Sure helps! I had come up with a similar method - duplicate a layer, High Pass filter (250), and overlay with a single image - wonder if it would also work here.
