Description

Outside it's all bustle and noise and garish colors; inside the War Memorial the tone is more - subdued. It's impossible to imagine the devastation caused by the war - the front line started at the middle of the country, marched south to the edge of the sea at Busan, and then was fought all the way back to the Chinese border before the truce was finally called in 1953. The entire countryside was utterly razed - and the scars linger to this day, physically, socially, and of course politically. Thank you for taking the time to ponder this image as we approach the 56th anniversary of the armistice.
