Description

I'm beginning to understand how the majority of time on a piece can be spent just working the minute details. I've changed the camera angle and position slightly to emphasize the track and the flat cars a bit more. The shadowing on the containers works much better here. I also made a substantial change in how I used Photoshop (CS2) to get the grain and color effects I wanted. While the "film grain" filter is nice, the "grain" texture filter gives me a lot more of the effect I wanted. I really wanted this to look an illustration from an old SF pulp. The physical print in on a matte photo paper which adds to the pulp illusion. It'll be on display at The Art Corner in Salem, MA the rest of the month. (A public reception for this exhibit, "Orbital Crossings" will be held Friday 7/17 from 6-9pm.) Thanks everyone, for your comments on the work-in-progress pieces. They definitely helped!

Yes, this definitely evokes that 1950's science fiction feel most effectively and I really like the results of the grain filter. It's easy to imagine some A.E. Van Vogt story sitting behind this book cover. Great use of colour too!

Ahhhhh. Gives me the old 50 and 60s Sci-fi rush. Love that stuff. This is nice work But your just touching the surface of Your Talent. Can't wait to see more cause The best is yet to come. Don't get me wrong....this is great but Vue has so many Features I'm still learning. Like the terrain editor. much more deatail in my new one by just raising the size with the 2 buttons on the top. But I digress........5
