Description

This one was made in the arboretum of the McGill University in Montreal. The forest is made of many different species, and is mile wide, but we saw only a tiny part of it. In fact, we were routed by battallions of mosquitos that seemed to think we were a five-courses walking meal. We didn't have any repellent with us, being unsuspecting of the danger awaiting in front of us. We couldn't even stay still for just a couple of seconds to take a shot that at least four mosquitoes landed on our hands to suck our precious blood. And left a terriblre itching as a souvenir. After a heroic battle I managed to have some decent shots. This one is in the area of the maple trees, and I suppose that the shadows on the trunk belong to their leaves.Signed with blood by Sandra. Great pattern of shadows. I've just recently encountered chiggers, and sympathise whole heartedly with anyone suffering from itchy nasty bugs.

Sandra this is a marvelous capture of the forest and it sounds like you really went through it to get this one. I can't imagine being some place where the mosquitos are so thick and probably would have bailed before even snapping one photo.

The things we go through for pictures:-) We have an aboretum here that encourages you to bring children AND they put cans of mosquito repellant out for free use...isn't that great? You know they want you to enjoy the place and come back.
