Description
Haze is a Mojo Freestuff Moon created by Octoganoid, normally it is represented as a solid sphere in Mojoworld. Using the Volumetrics plugin by D. Lavrov I have faked the moon by creating an isosurface in a sphere container with same scale as is equal to the moons size. Then after forming the shape that I wanted I could create a shader in Volumetrics & utilise the Haze texture files. Next was to add a fake dying atmosphere, as covered by Lewis Moorcrofts fake atmosphere at his website. Additionally I added a asteroid field which is really just an additional isosurface using the same textures as the moon & utilising offsets for getting poistions that I wanted. Placing a cloud layer for the dust in the scene helped (I think) with giving the illusion of smaller dust particles. Furthermore I added a point light at the centre of the moon to try & create a glow to the core of the moon. This I'm NOT impressed with as the outcome was not what I was aiming for. The pink light on the dust clouds is the result of the point light being picked up on the dust(cloud). Whilst it does give some light lines where the light bleeds out from the centre of the mass the light is also picked up on the atmosphere hack, tainting the overall result.
A long render at actual size AA3 GD0 = approx. 32 hrs (due to long visible distances I guess).
There was much that I thought I could do with this shot..fake explosions in from the moon...ships mining the moon....a spacebattle etc...but I left it as it was. The destruction must have occurred a longtime ago.
Created with Mojo pro 3.1 + Volumetrics Plugin
Postwork with Ulead Photoimpact 11 for colour levels management, framing & text.
FSV recommended.

Amazing piece of work man, I think I can visualize what you were aiming for and even though you're not entirely happy with the result it's still superbly crafted and realized. 32 hrs at 3 and 0, damn, that's some patience ::Clapping:: Peace
