UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Find a photo competition, that's a winner....Like so many, my first thought was '9 parts suet, 1 part JD':) (though of course I know you never would). I don't often comment on your bird shots (complete dunce in that field) but this is too special to pass up." Determination in adversity " and an interesting thought re: your avatar. Thanks Bill, this has started my day with a smile.

What a pose! Great capture of this guy. I'm surprised he doesn't try to hang on the slats of the feeder.

A fine shot, Bill, and so interesting, what you tell about those little ones... ours over here never took the seed from the plate but they were artists in hanging on the little netted balls with food I hung below the feeder, so you are right, flat grounds are not ment for this species...smile

bill, first I'm sorry I took this long to get to your gallery again, I didn't comment for several days, & the one time I did it was to catch up on people I hadn't visited in a couple of weeks. But this was a favorite when I first saw it, and it's a great place to re-enter. I love the capture, the awkward—but to the bird, probably unnoticed—posture, and how the bird eats, anyway. It points out how animals are so agile, and how they can assume almost any position if the goal is important enough. I never thought about smooth surfaces for birds, that (of course) the smoother the surface, the harder it is for their talons—the opposite of humans! And I never realized that adult birds use their tail-ends for balance. (A lot I'm learning from this series.) It's an amazing capture; and while you'd never get me to eat suet (I'm vegetarian), I can imagine its high fat content is great for a bird. And your background is your usual dark with patches of luminous green, created I assume by the utlra softenings of the leaves. I love this shot. It's a quiet revelation.

This definetely put a smile on my face thanks for the uplifting shot!
