Description

This old dame, The Zeila, ran ashore on the coast of Namibia in August 2008. She was apparently sold to an Iranian company as scrap metal and on her way being towed, she broke loose in a storm and ended on her belly about 60-100 feet from the shoreline! So much for that idea! As this is cold water, no coral will be growing on her, so I guess she is just good for seabirds to nest and poop on!!! Thank you for popping in and for your valued comments and favs on my upload of the little bridge yesterday! Take care! Hugs, Carin xx

Excellent shot Carin, great angle and the rough sea and grey stormy sky are perfect for a shipwreck shot

Fantastic image! You got my attention right away with this one. When I was a kid, there was a ship wrecked out on the coast here, but it was really close in ... I think they had towed it in to turn it into a restaurant. You could walk out to the ship and climb on board, and we used to carefully walk the decks (at about the same slant as this one)! Gosh ... that was so much fun, and I remember it like it was yesterday! We would take pictures of people standing on the deck, and line up the photography horizon with the deck so it looked like the people were all leaning over ... like magic! Well, now you've got me going! LOL! Dit was so goed om te praat met jou vroeer ... ek was vermis jou! Druk 'n soen. :X

So that's what happened to the old stern trawler, Zeila. I also thought it was a painting Carin. Awesome post work on this great photo. The ocean is relentless, isn’t it? Dana
