Hi, I'm Marilyn. Ă‚Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Ă‚Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Ă‚Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Ă‚Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Ă‚Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Ă‚Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Ă‚Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Ă‚Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

How do you always find such striking colors? This is super. I also looked at "the road" and it doesn't look that bad, but if the rental car companies put it off limits they must have a good reason:-)

Holy cow! Daybreak! The sun crashing over the land just as an ocean wave crashes over the rocks. Stunning.

Ultra stellar shot of the scorching sun, as it emerges from the depths to illuminate the background foliage, Missy Marilyn. And, if you mean 14,000-feet in altitude, the air is a bit thin up there, so how were you able to breathe? I assume you were wearing your ever present flip-flops during all this.

Awesome colors and the trees are perfect in silhouette.

The brush in the foreground sure does set up this spectacular sunrise. Dana

I just read a little about this road (thank you), and it's pretty amazing. I guess when you convert an old army road, you're gonna have some paving problems, lol. Your pov is way low and you allowed the shot to be mostly sky, so your silhouetted trees do have a scroungy mysterious look, and since you allowed the sun to dissolve some of the trees (I love that choice), they're almost like ghosts or flames in spots. A fine low horizon shot, with a heavy dawn sky, and trees that look like they're at the 'treeline' of this mountain—all squat & gnarled—and there's a moonscape quality to it, though it's also very alive. This trip keeps feeding your gallery with wonders. Amazing source, considering the trip was only several days in length.
