Description

A week or so ago I mentioned the fact that I was interested in getting a shot of a Dragonfly in flight. A day or so later, I managed to capture this female Slaty Skimmer as she was laying eggs. It helped a great deal that she was hovering in place. Even with her help, it took a couple of hundred attempts and about 2 hours, before I managed to get this one usable shot. What it lacks in quality is made up for with effort, lol. Two days later I decided to try it again. I found a spot as close to a popular egg laying area as possible and settled in for a long spell. It turned out to be a fruitful experiment. Although none of the shots are crisp and sharp, I did manage to get several nicely composed images. I am satisfied with the effort and humbled by the experience. Hand held shots of flying (even hovering) Dragonflies is a tough deal, lol. There will be three more images in this series. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

Wow, I'm impressed. I don't think I have ever seen an actual photo of one in flight. Great Job....Very interesting.

Lee, I applaud you, I took several photos of dragons over the water in June and none of them came clear. Well done!

Oh yeah Lee, you did great here. I have spent a lot of time trying to capture a dragon hovering like that - but my camera always wants to focus on what's behind him... or whatever. not an easy task! So, I can believe you spent hours trying. I'll bet you were telling this guy to TURN AROUND .. lol still, a great shot. :)
