Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I always love going up the mountain side. A feeling of power being above the clouds. The view from on top of Mauna Kea is an even more powerful and awesome feeling. Next time, you will have to go up there. Nice shot. Aloha

Super cool shot...no pun intended there, Marilyn. A few more degrees downward and you could have seen snow...there is some of that stuff in tropical Hawaii!!!

A stellar capture of what looks like an approaching sand storm, even though it's at 14,000 feet, Maz! Good color contrast between the surface and the blue sky. Things don't get much better than this.

WOW! This is amazing! It definitely doesn't look like something from chicago. It looks ominous in a way. It is a little spooky, because the haze is such a different color from the crisp, blue sky. Great work.

I looked over Corey's shoulder when he was commenting on this, and now I get to comment! WOW. This IS amazing. It looks so otherworldly, but then, I'd say something like that, wouldn't I? This is a fantastic shot! I love the way it almost looks like an approaching dust storm, or like that "burglar alarm system on Mars" as portrayed in the movie Mission to Mars. It was a fun movie. I love the ominous haze of this, the dome shape! Great work, and a favorite!

This is a super cool capture. Who would ever think that they would ever see a desert sandstorm in Hawaii. Well seen - well captured. Dana

lol Corey, "it definitely doesn't look like something from chicago". I hope not! Maybe Chicago before it was a city, and during a duststorm from far west (sometimes they do make their way into Chicago...). This is almost an 'abstract', with rolls & sweeps of hue & blur & defined areas & lines rolling over each other. The fog & mountain make a beautiful abstract, and the trees on the right give definition to the fog...and lots of sky too: You know how powerful the sky is: You're not afraid to let it dominate. Here, it tries to dominate, but that beautiful earthen-toned watercolor fog/mountain (I know, it's a photograph, just give me the fantasy) really does wonders to the sky. Lovely shot, and more power from your inner eye.
