Description

Bryce 6.1/Photoshop/Photoscape A return to sci-fi with this one,and a new model as well.Lifepod is created from positive and negative prims, and one shape from Spacebones.Textures are presets, with the hull texture combining a damaged metal preset and a spaceship texture from www.turbosquid.com.A radial light was placed within the pod(the inside is hollowed out)and shines out through the glass of the hatch. The alien plants are lattices that I created in the terrain editor using soft brushes. They are rendered in a modified pumpkin preset texture.Mud is a modified preset, water is also a preset.Sky,atmo and light are custom, foreground fog is a modified cloud volumetric applied to a sphere. The image was rendered in Superfine setting, and took 4.5 hours at this resolution size.Post in Photoshop involves the sparks, smoke and burn damage to the pod, distant birds and signature.A bloom filter, contrast boost and frame were added in Photoscape 3.3.Thanks for viewing, and any comments!

Now this was a great idea, Neil. The Lifepod emerges from the alien plants to give a source of shelter to other worldly beings...just my take, here. Thanks for all of the explanation details. They really give a more in-depth look at the render.

A striking image. One wonders if the occupant(s) might not have jumped from the frying pan into the fire, though. It doesn't impress me as a particularly nice planet upon which to be stranded. Like the plants, too.

Very well done. I like the atmosphere you have created with this and the explanation is interesting, you see what work goes into an image like this. What's in the pod?
