Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I love your pier shots...I will attempt to go and get some of ours, and the surfers!

Great shot, but that looks dangerous!

Those pier supports are massive considering the scale of the surfer. I can imagine the huge trees they came from.

This is a cool pic indeed. There is a pier in Chicago that you'll have to add to this budding collection...have you seen it?

I suspect it IS time to go back (hit Chicago first, though.) I love your pier shots. They're always so interesting. Yeah, they're gorgeous, and wonderfully presented. I love the lumps and imperfections on the pole nearest the camera...great bumps and warps and signs of age and use. Fantastic colors. You seem to have a thing for golds and reds particularly, and that's always great because those colors really do add warmth. Great work. I like this a lot!

I'll mimic what's been said. Love the golden tones, the waves and the geometric design of the pier supports. Great shot!

Gorgeous colors, and I love your postwork choices! So ... what were you wanting for your birthday? :D

yeah, your piers are like tara's pots...they always call you back...the light here & the texture you got on the piers make them look like pillars in a tale, there's something enchanted about them. Also—and allow me this dumb fantasy (lol)—they look like bunches of huuuuuge breadsticks (!) though why they'd be submerged in the ocean, I don't know...Gold mysterious light, and the water underneath looks quiet but like it could rise up at any moment and take over the world. Another fine pier shot from you. I take it you're gonna have to make a trip there pretty soon...
