Description
And we return to Costa Rica with this picture of pizotes by the side of the road on the road going between the provinces of Guanacaste and Arenal (the same one the picture "Lago Arenal" was taken on - in fact, just a bit earlier).
Pizotes, as they're known in Costa Rica, are White-nosed Coatis, a member of the racoon family (as per Wikipedia). Unfortunately, in Costa Rica, they get fed by tourists at the side of the road, and so are learning that they don't have to fear humans, and are getting things that are not in their natural diet.

All tails erect. Great capture!

Totally cool! I've never seen a coati, but there are raccoons in my yard every night. These guys seem a lot less intimidating than a 20kg male 'coon with an attitude.

Leave to humans to mess things up, next thing you know, they'll be sitting at picnic tables, expecting to be served! I've read so much about these, but never seen them close up. Thank you for the share!!
