Description

Welcome to the Chiricahua Mountains located in the SE corner of Arizona, only 50 miles from the Mexican border. Chiricahua harbors towering rock spires, massive stone columns and balanced rocks weighting hundreds of tons on small pedestals. The Chiricahua Apache Indians called it the “Land of the Standing Up Rocks”. Using this area as their home base, Geronimo and Cochise launched attacks against the tide of pioneers for more than 25 years. Geronimo surrendered in 1886. Some info from the National Park Service. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous comments. Dana

This is a historic spot and sacred grounds to those who believed in the cause of the native Americans who lived here. Fabulous shot.
