Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

And this spot of light couldn't have been more perfect! It is almost as if someone was sitting high up in a redwood pointing a spotlight exactly in the correct spot! Great capture my friend and it was GOOD chatting last night!! :)

you know it just dawned on me, when I do these marathons in your gallery, you're stuck reading me for, like, 30 minutes, and your email is filled up with "Gallery Comment" for about 5 feet down its roster...Well, you can space them out if you want! The thing is though, you can read them and go about your business, whereas I, on the other hand, can't sleep for 10 hours after, because of all the stimulation! You should serve some chamomile tea & a put out a few throw pillows for me to rest on (just basic gallery etiquette: I did come all the way from Chicago!) Anyway, yes, I'm told by people who've lived in your area that the redwood forests have lots of pockets of intense light surrounded by shadow & dark. This seems right on the money. And I don't know what those ferns are doing there, but I'd imagine all kinds of plants are growing in those amazing forests. Very sedate and fine shot. more of your 'zeroing in' to singular spots in a large surrounding. (And I read Andrea's remark about how she's got a few in her weed forest, and I thought: "Redwoods???" Then I realized she meant the weed.) Love when you show us your home, lots of mystery right out your front door...
