Description

Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21F Second in a series of Impressionistic aircraft views. You all will have to put up with several more of these as I am finding them a lot of fun to do:-) This MiG is on static display at the USAF Museum in Dayton, Ohio. For All: In the spring of 1966, The North Vietnamese Air Force (VPAF) began flying the MiG-21. The MiG-21 quickly proved to be a worthy opponent of the US Air Force's F-4 Phantom. Impressionist #1 For Aviation Enthusiasts: The MiG-21F (NATO code-name "Fishbed") was a short-range day fighter-interceptor and the first major production version of the popular MiG-21 series. The E-5 prototype of the MiG-21 was first flown in 1955, and it made its first public appearance during the Soviet Aviation Day display at Moscow's Tushino Airport in June 1956. Technical Notes Armament: One NR-30 30mm cannon and K-13A air-to-air missiles Engine: Tumansky R-11F-300 of 12,675 lbs thrust Maximum speed: 1,300 mph Range: 400 miles Ceiling: 50,000 ft Thanks for stopping by and all you super support, Bill:)

the filtering is very subtle, kudos. (I assume you used filters.) But what's all the more special is the silhouetting of the plane with all that darkness around. Must've been very painstaking to get just the plane. And your frontal shot & symmetry is perfect for the shot, and you've created a ghost image of light coming through the darkness. And the golds & intense greens are perfect too. You're doing really good work with this series: Hope you keep it up. I imagine the plane, after years of being used for battle, is happy to be transformed by your mysterious painterly presentation...
