Description

The context is my obsession. Those who say that a photo represents objective evidence, make me laugh. And when I have to crop a shot, I go into convulsions. What do I leave out? What is the non-verbal message I'm proposing? I don't know what this girl shot at on a New Brunswick beach. The ripples of sand, a small crab, a shell, the transparency of the water? When I took my shot of her, by instinct I beautified the photo, and cropped off the tall chimneys disturbing the view by zooming on her.That shot, insulated from the context, is almost a visual haiku: Sitting crouched on the edge, she chases wavelets. Then I added the context: maybe I should also add one line or two to the poem: The tall pipe puffs out new clouds/blind to beauty, a builder's erection). Be merciful with comments!

Very intrigueing how you have placed the various layers and blended them. So much supposition can be read in between the layers. A very wonderful manipulation, Sandra! Very creative and original!
