Description
mixed media of acrylic inks, watercolor featured at the Englewood Art Festival 2009. Many photographers can appreciate "the golden moment" when either the sunrise or sunset touches and magically transforms where one is at the moment. Have thought of this concept for some time now and pushed to try and capture it.

Wow ... the ultra-violet iridiscence is intoxicating. Sometimes, I wonder why works like these don't get much appreciation on this site. This is unquestionable artistry here (in my book); light, texture, compo, form ... Hey Meg - just to let you know; I appreciate you as one of the TRUE and REAL ARTISTS on this site. salut -Julian

Dearest Julian, if the work finds and touches but one in life; then is my belief have the appreciation more than what found before the work. Am like many artists in life right now. It's a tough economy even harder to raise the money to "show" the work; yet feel the need to develop a certain flow. (imagine its as your own work and music) the bonus is the connection found in one who "appreciates". My heartfelt thanks for taking the time to "write the letter" and call me true and real. Receive emails with contemplations for the day seed levels so to speak. Todays' was Look at the less croweded road, it's the one you should be on and Changing the world happens when we treat people like people and not objects. You my dear and several others are very real in my life. Thank you for who you are instinctively.

Why doesn't traditional media get much appreciation here? Well this is primarily a Poser site, and it's amazing so many new media and traditional media artist do post here - the must be a site for the likes of us somewhere, I've not found it yet. To this work: always a sucker for leaves, love the use of color in this - very strong and appealing to me, further the format is great, break those tired common rectangles! Love it.

First, forgive me for being so late...I either didn't get the ebot, or I got it and didn't see it. (Life's been that way this summer, I so apologize! I found this by coming to your gallery...) Sonya, this is exquisite. And yes, the moment of sunrise or sunset is rare & filled with wonder...The yogis see it as the 'meeting of light & dark', and they relish it as a time of inner communion. You captured all of that here. You've painted these leaves as 'revelations', each separate but all speaking together. And—as always in your work—the colors sing, shine & shimmer, your yellows are almost golden, your portrayal of the 'breakup' of the leaf-surfaces is exquisite (with those complex blacks, blues, purples, etc), and you've given such a nice roundness to them, as well as painted a complex & beautiful background (ie, the ground, filled with glowing pebbles, soil, etc.) (Such nice purples & reds—some of the trademarks of your art.) Well, this is that "light meets dark" moment, and it shines...and the piece, though small, has your largesse of heart & soul, and a deep inner glow that is yours as much as the sunrise's; and it's a beautiful vision of inner life & light. Much light & life to you! A pleasure to come here again...
