Description

When I did some work for my friend, Florence, she paid me and in the pay were three new gold-plated dollars. Well, I didn't have a fountain so I used the next best thing - the birdbath. I took several pictures and of all of the pictures I like this one the best, mainly because of the way the light comes off the top coin as well as the reflection at the bottom edge of the birdbath. Other than cropping and tagging this photo, no post work was done to it. On another note, I think I must clarify a certain point about myself - I am a 'hack' photographer. I see something I like, for one reason or another, and I get the camera out and I shoot pictures of it. I don't worry about shutter speed or aperture settings. If the picture turns out good, I'm happy - period. I do most of my photography to have a selection of background, or as DAZ Studios puts it, backdrop images for my renders. that is the MAIN reason I take pictures. Some of these pictures are nice enough to post 'as is' on Renderosity. While I appreciate suggestions on taking a better picture, if I SM that person asking how it can be done, I'd really appreciate it greatly that they respond to my queries. Elsewise, I would ask that you do not make suggestions unless you are willing to explain yourself further. Thank you. Have a great Sunday Mike

Can I suggest just point and shoot? - LOL... I like how this came out Mike... I know I was one that mentioned your other picture was blury, but I did make a suggestion, so I don't think you're growling at me = lol... and if you are, have a bone, it works for dogs - lol... I think you aught to take that top coin with the glow and buy a lottery ticket - it seems there is something magical about it... and if you win a million dollars, don't forget I suggest it - lol... 1% of your winnings wouldn't hurt you - LOL

That is a fantastic shot, Mike! Love the way the light is glinting off the coins and the water! As to being a 'hack' photographer...as one of my favorite teachers in High School used to say - they are no small parts, only small actors. I think the same goes for artists. As long as you do what you like, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. And personally? I think your photography is great.

Beautiful photo, I love how the sun's reflection is there at the bottom along with the glow of the three coins! I wanna know if the birds will still use the birdbath with those coins reflecting off the bottom... Nothing wrong with the 'point and shoot' approach to photography -- if you worry too much about settings you'll miss the moments that make such great photos (-; As long as YOU like the end result, it's a great picture.

Excellent capture, love how the lighting turned out. Also love your comments about being a "hack" photographer. I'm with you on that: If I see something I like, I take the picture, and don't worry about all the "professional" tricks. As long as the picture comes out and you like the results, what does the rest matter?

"Both critical and non-critical comments are welcomed." You can change this little selector drop down menu when posting your images to reflect that you do not want any critical commentary. Simple as that. The Canon PowerShot A590 IS has a full manual mode, I dont think the discovery process is my or anyone elses responsibility to impart or tech to you, rather your own- but if simple critique and suggestions to help you attain a less blurry photo is insulting to you then so be it- you can enjoy all the "great work" comments instead.

You can be glad that there are no ostriches drinking from that birdbath... Your coins would have been long gone by now. Last weekend a tame ostrich kept on pecking at the shiny bits on my camera... LOL...

I feel the same way Mike, I aim, and shoot, and if I like it, ,,I like it, and will share it! There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with your photos! How dare anyone question, or criticize your photos! You can get natural beauty of most anything with the camera like I have, "Sony Cyber Shot 7.2 mega pixils"....I think I do darn pretty good on my photos! Keep on shootin Mike, your work is FANTASTIC!!!! Oh BTW.....this one is great...I love the fact that the coins glow! Great shot...and I really mean it! Sorry to have went into a kinda rage with this, but I get some weird site mails suggesting how to shoot photo's, and I am NO where near a professional, just love, what I love, ya know? (((hugs)))
