Description

San Francisco, 1972, a hot summer day in the Outer Mission District. Taken from the window of my living room. The sepia tone is not post-work. I really am that old. BTW - I finally posted an avatar. That's me at age six. Someday I'll show you what I look like today but I warn you, its not going to be pretty.

I do love the POV and the whole composition - amazing what happens on the streets and what the camera will catch ... with a lot of your patience and a great eye for details, absolutely brill - BB

THere's Mike and Brigitte (commenting). And btw, this deserves a lot more than 3 comments. (But your current pieces deserve much more than they get. I wonder what stupor people are in, to not flock to your offerings, assuming you'd even want that; but you certainly deserve much more attention than you get.) So this sepia is part of the old film stock...Ok. But it has a beauty all its own. I love your tilt, and I love the almost silhouette quality to the riders---I mean they're clearly with full bodies and details; but because of the extreme light of the road and sidewalk, you achieved a semi silhouette effect. Intuitive and right. Brigitte has it right about your patience and great eye for details. Man, I can see where your present eye comes from. You were doing this in the early 70s? in the early 70s I couldn't take a picture to save my keester. (And btw--so this is when you chose your avatar. That's you at 6? I kind of thought it was your Bar Mitzvah picture. I didn't look too different at that age...) A really fine mix of real and abstract. And, while tilts often seem pretentious to me, this tilt works completely.
