Description

Well, this is a new species for me (waiting for an ID at bug Guide.net). I went to the local wetlands today for the first time in a couple of weeks. Got a handful of nice shots I will be sharing in the coming days. This medium sized bee (10-12mm) was rather active and hard to capture. Just wouldn't stay put for more than a few seconds. This is actually the ONLY shot of it I took and luckily it came out sharp. Only bummer is I wanted to give myself distance so the magnification is at the lowest end I can get. Still happy with the shot though. If anyone has an Idea of what bee this is, I would love to hear from ya. Thanks for looking and comments. -Bruce PS I have to say, I'm really happy with the decision to purchase and use the Gary Fong Pop-up Flash diffuser. All my shots today I used the flash on (in daylight). And my percentage of quality images went up by 50% at least, compared to only natural light in the past. Just FYI. UPDATE: Found the ID on this bee. Tribe Eucerini - Long-horned bee. Title from the Eric Johnson song of the same name.

Excellent picture - the detail and clarity is spot on. The flash has really brought out the detail without flattening the image, and added catch lights in the process, well done.

to me it resembles a sweat bee or honey bee. i could be wrong though! hahaha! but either way, this is a fantastic picture!!! lovely fuzz.

awesome shot, spot on focus and details! I use a lumiquest promax III which I think is a similar thing - bit big and obvious but does a great job too =)
