This is a remastered version of one of the very first ship models I designed. It is a Rama-Class Destroyer, an escort vessel originally designed to defend Terran Protectorate carriers and cruisers from fighter and light ships. It is one of the oldest designs still operational in human space and was the first human starship developed during wartime. It first began to sail from human shipyards a year and a half into the first war with the Imperial Consortium. The Rama is an example of brutal wartime efficiency. It has no bells and whistles, not even artificial gravity. It's systems are streamlined, efficient, effective and simple, which has allowed the ship to outlast two other generations of starships that followed it. While no more are being built, the large number of Rama's in operation have been refit a multitude of times and will likely be kept in space until they are all destroyed or cannot be refitted for new technologies. The two Rama's here are being escorted by Ballista Strike Fighters, a two-man space fighter/bomber. When teamed together effectively, the Ballista and the Ramas can threaten capital ships many times their size.
