Description

Independent starship garages for light transports, shuttles and most common civilian starships are a common sight both in and out of human space. Because most human worlds are largely covered by water, and because most colonies don't charge you much to lease "wet acreage," many of these mini-ports and repair depots are built on the water, giving rise to the name 'wet docks.' Almost all starships in human space are buoyant due to safety regulations (in case of emergency water landing), and hatches are generally built at the water line. Even the military makes use of wetdocks, with such facilities being the only way that very larger carriers, battleships and other capital ships can land. This is one of those images that actually looks pretty much exactly like it was in my head. I love when that happens. I'd really, really like some meaty feedback on this one, particularly from carrara and sci-fi artists both on the image and the concept. The ships, the mecha and the big domes were modeled and textured by me. The landing platform and hangar bay are Daz3d products.

I certainly hope that there are far larger facilities for all those dreadnaughts and other beefy types such as hypercargo ships. This is pretty good. What it's missing is a way to load and offload ships from the landing platform I think. I like the control tower off to the side. Everything else appears to be excellent.

Fantastic artwork, love the atmosphere. I think you've nailed the scifi scene really good on this one. A couple of people in there would of helped with the perspective of size, but still it's nice, really nice!

Can't help you on the carrara aspect, SciFi wise, excellent work, I agree though that there should be some means of off-loading cargo and other equipment from the ship and to them as well. Great lighting, just missing the sparks of a welding torch

Is a great SF image - the textures and buildings are believable. And don't forget a wet-dock would also be an ideal place to test for air-tightness ... as in bubbles drifting up are a bad thing. I wonder if they have "anti-grav" lifters, or if one would still need some for of mecha to pick up uncooperative hardware.

For the life of me, I don't know why, but the water doesn't work for me. It's not the coloring of it, either. It just doesn't look correct. Do like the lighting and the buildings are well-placed.
