Description
This is a double artistic tribute. One is visual and I think rather obvious -- to "Madame X". The other is literary -- to an episode in one of Dorothy Sayers' Wimsey books. A portrait of Mrs. Harwell depicted her admiring her own mask. I wanted that mask to be more of a mirror reflection emerging from the mirror she is holding -- a materialized version of what Mrs. Harwell was seeing in her mirrors. Subtly softer and kinder version of herself.
Please tell me whether you think I've achieved these goals or not.
And, of course, any other comments, and criticisms, are very welcome as usual.
The full view version is indeed big, but the mask/face differences might be too subtle for the resized one.
Credits:
V4 with Alice morphs, Lady Jane morphs and a bunch of my own dialed ones.
Altered Ivory texture. Adjusted shaders all over.
Noctia with Carrara's procedural shaders, and an added morph to bend the hem.
Addition hair, altered shdaders.
Round table from "The Ballroom Exp 1", smoothed, and geometry and UV map altered to accommodate the smoothing.
Folkvangar's Art Deco Caprice background.
Daz Studio Dynamic plug-in and Dynamic Tableclothm, imported as .obj, geometry slightly altered to fit the scene. Carrara procedural shaders.
Fisty's free Antique Style Hand Mirror with added displacement map.
The postwork consisted pretty much of compositing render passes, and was done in Gimp.

Indeed she sees herself as she could have been. We always see the best in ourselves. But cruel and wicked as she is, she is also to a degree honest - and she is disappointed in herself because try as she might, she can't fool herself. The expression and pose - perfect. They breath.
