Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

And the swoosh of the waves, the feeling of sand between your toes and the tunnel like perspective as you 'pier' into the distance! Cool shot, I wish I was there.

As I sit here and look at your image I keep ducking lower so that I can see under those pilings! lol. I really want to just walk in there and explore. Love the golden glow at the top and the rich blue of the water. What a great perspective, Marilyn.

The sea has to be Mother Nature's most powerful force. 24X7 - never taking a break. This was built to last for sure. Awesome capture. Dana

I love this classic shot. Under the pier is such a great place to hang out!

I love your under the pier shots...I remember that they're what drew me to your gallery in the first place. And as always, your eye is spot on. I love the lines, the water, the colors...everything. The pier looks massive and imposing, like it can withstand a whole lot! This is a perfect shot!

"Under the boardwalk, out of the sun" is obviously a good place for you to have fun with a camera and get an excellent shot. I really like the receeding poles and x's, and the outside poles you can barely see that are on a slant. Actually I kind of wonder about those outside poles. lol. I never liked geometry either, mostly because I really didn't want to memorize theorems, which was kind of important.

one almost feels that if you moved a little higher or lower, you'd get a fine shot but not this one; that could just be a fantasy, but it feels like one of those moments when several energies converge and everything aligns...you really got a journey into the end of those rafters pointing to that little light in the distance (a journey to the far away infinite), and all the lights around, and the lights in the water and ground at bottom are all part of one symphony. I love that Chip was drawn to your work by this very subject material; and that Jodie wants to explore even more. And Tara calls it "classic"—well from her that's a high compliment. It is. And it also shakes the foundations...Piers really are one of your subjects, aren't they. They're similar to the rafters of that barn...in some deep way they're connected...
