Description

Marilyn and Lynell have gotta like this. Captured 8/8/09, around 2 to 4PM, at a car show within walking distance of my humble haunt. Much, much better viewed full size. I would venture to say that a few bucks were invested in this beauty. This auto show is an annual event held very close by, and usually features about 75-100 classics, along with many motorcycles and novelty vehicles. It is mainly staged by car clubs, with lots of vendors and fast food stands around, and is a very noisy affair with huge stereo speakers deafening the crowd with rock music, most of whom love their beer on a hot August day. Also, many scantly clad and well endowed young women in attendance to complement the macho males. I can live with that. Hence, with the heat, carousing, shouting, stereo noise and constantly moving crowd to contend with, it was a super challenging event for a photographer to cover. Nonetheless, I was able to snap off about 190 shots before I was driven to cover. And thank you again, God, for inventing Photoshop. Anyway, other than two Fords, a Buick, a Cadillac, a Plymouth, and a Studebaker, I found that all the autos on display were Chevrolets, circa 1929 to the mid 1960s. No bias there...lol. I must add that these classics were in beautiful, pristine, tip-top shape. Tallyho, and toodles.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...and a little bit of photoshop helps as well! Great series of photos of a bowtie classic.

Excellent work! (but I'd have a hard time with a car so low that it could get high-centred on a gopher! lol)

Oh yummm....Chrome rules and a red is hot. The blurred background makes the first shot looks like a toy model on display. Excelent collage Harry.

yes, Marilyn & Lynell have to like these shots! Your sequence takes us closer-in, until we're inside the beast; and that is one eye-popping engine. Too bad cars never stay this pristine! An eye-popping montage, lots of bold chrome and saturated light, and, full-size, the engine is as much an ocean of light-flows & blasts as an actual engine. (Well, don't tell that to the car owner, but still...) A giddy, luxuriously & happy confection of the lights & swirls of Chevy-land, and real eye candy to boot. Can't wait to see more from this show!

Was it for sale? Did you "buy this car"??? Lotsa vroom, vroom for your buck, I imagine. I was merely 3 when this one was made but I do remember similar cars rolling around town in various colors. Well done display by you and the car owner!
