Description

Captured back on 7/14/07, early on an overcast morning, I know not where, but definitely not in a botanical garden. Better viewed full size. While perusing my older photos, I came upon a long forgotten folder of dahlias, which included these four beauties. Dahlias are separated into six size categories and eleven bloom categories. Pictures 1 and 3 are in the anemone category, probably because they so resemble sea anemones; I don't know the category of photo 2, so I will list it as "Phyllis Diller Hair," because it reminds me of the comedienne. I have no idea which category photo 4 would fall under, but with those peppermint stick colored petals, is lovely to look at. Tallyho, and toodles.

I love dahlias, but never have had much luck with growing them. This is a lovely selection! Nice shots, Harry...

All lovely, Harry! I think the last shape is 'decorative', but they recently changed the categories: and does it matter? I ask myself!

beautiful captures, and you move from 3 flowers to 2 to 1 and 1, and the final one is almost from a fairy tale. You've got all the floppy light-catching petals of this family of flowers, some rich and upright, some scraggly (as dahlias will get), and a bottom one like a candy cane made of petals (peppermint stick, you called it). The anemones I can see; the Phyllis Diller hair—lol! Apt description (does it have a big rocking laugh?) And the last is captured head on with great beauty. A fine bouquet in 4 separate shots. And your light is fine too, ending in a 4th that has very dark background, setting off the 'candy' like presence of the pinks & whites...

Love them, love them all but the bottom one is my favorite out of all of them. Great shots.
