Description
This is the first year I have seen this species and I have seen a lot of them this year, lol. I have no idea why this is true but I am grateful.
This is a pretty big Dragonfly and they are quite tolerant to close approaches. They also return to the same perching spots repeatedly and they prefer vegetation that surrounds the pond instead of vegetation that is in the water.
I have not seen a female of this species but I have seen very young males who are not blue at all (except for their eyes),lol. They are mostly yellow with a dark marking on their backs.
This is number 6 in a series of 7 showing the males of 7 different species. Just one more to go, lol. Of course I will get around to posting 7 more males from 7 more species as well as 7 females from different species but I will switch to something else than Dragonflies for a while first.

What a wonderful colour for a Dragonfly, superb detail as always Lee. I've been out with fellow member JeffG7BRJ around a local pond here in the UK. I've always been inspired by your work and have now finally got some shots to be proud of. (but lol I'm hopeless when it comes to identification tho!)
