Description

Haven’t gotten out on the trails lately so I decided yesterday was a good day to start again. It was a cool day for August in Oklahoma USA with a nice breeze. I choose a trail by Arbuckle Lake and off I went. I like this trail because it doesn’t seem to get many travelers and yesterday was no exception as the spiders had taken over the trail stretching their weeds from one side to the other a 6 to 8 foot span in some places. After running into a couple of them early in my walk I decided a stick would make a good travel companion. I’m sure I made several spiders mad as I broke the webs to get by. The treasure is at the end of the trail; A plethora of Dragonflies, Damselflies, Butterflies, Moths, Wasps and Bubble bees were awaiting the photo shoot. Also the trail ends by the water where a nice cool breeze blew across the bank, I needed that. Of course with the breeze comes movement not the optimal condition when it comes to close up photography; but with good light, fast shutter speeds, a higher ISO than I liked, and a little luck I caught the shots as they blew by, LOL. You guys and gals now what that’s like a little challenging and allot of fun, but with a side dish of frustration every now and then, smile. This is what I believe to be a Blue-Fronted Dancer Damselfly (Argia Apicalis) brown form female shot this down inside a large cactus. I had to find away to get down in the cactus for this shot and deal with the low light. The cactus was beginning to decompose; I thought it made for nice texture with more interest than it would have in full light. Just glad the Damselfly was patient and hung around long enough for me to get a few shots. Have a great weekend, thanks for stopping by and for any comments your care to leave!

Excellent clarity, focus and lighting effects depicted in this macro of what I've always considered a very strange creature.
