Description
March1, 2009. Most snow we've had here in Memphis since I moved here way back in 1992. This is on our back deck, and that's Julia risking the snow with camera in hand, as always.
While looking for something else earlier this week I happen to run across this forgotten shot, and decided it deserved to join the ranks of "finished" photographs.
High today here in Memphis will hit the mid 90's with high, muggy, sticky humidity. Hard to believe this winter wonderland scene was only 5 and half months ago!
But just this past week we noticed the caladiums have already reached and passed the zenith of this summer's growth. And the sun goes down sooner each day.
Just recently, when the humidity is low, I noticed that the late afternoon shadows stretching across our wooded back yard sometimes have that autumn shadow feel to them. I'm not sure if you can actually "see" it or not, but for those of us who can feel it, it's as noticeable as a neighbor's radio turned up way too loud. You just can't help but be aware of it. It's Mother Earth's subtle way of letting you know that time has yet to stand still, and it isn't being contemplated either!
Lately, time seems to be in a mad rush that's directly proportional to my desire to slow things down just a little and enjoy more. Guess I'll have to compromise some on that since Julia and I have many more roads to travel.
