Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us. Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!

Well, now I may have to take the long 45 min drive out there and get me a photo response. ;) Beautifully captured, I love how the soft focus in the foreground really forces you to take in the unique formations the Badlands has to offer.

yeah, 'points & petticoats' might raise some eyebrows among the mountain-climbers on Rosity (and I don't imagine the Lakota & Dakota Sioux would be too thrilled either, lol) The contrasts between the rocks and sky are quite stark; yet I know they're wholly natural. (A lot of dig. photographers would coax them out of the shot with digital means. I know you well enough to know your eye does all the coaxing.) It really is stark: The hills are so sculpted, and they 'do' look like they're wearing petticoats or ballet attire, and the strata are very clear in this shot. It's actually monumental, but because it's nothing but the rocks, empty grass & sky, it almost feels 'intimate'. And that ultra clear sky is amazing: not a blemish, not a skin rash, nothing. I remember the hills being that color too: They really are a dusty grayish brown...Fine pic, you always put care into your shots. The detail & clarity are so natural and sharp...

Great looking place.

Rugged terrain for sure but it makes a subject with almost any scale thinkable.
