Description
This aircraft,and its companion were shot down by Hawker Hurricanes while ferrying troops.The pilot,Graf Schack managed to crash land at Narvik where the crew and 10 troops became POW's.

Your usual excellent views of a lesser known aircraft. Thanks for the history, too. Dornier made a fine series of civilian and military flying boats/floatplanes from the 20s through WW II.

Wikipedia confusingly gives a different story, though it can be quite unreliable. Seemingly Graf Schack was flying V2 when it was attacked by three Blackburn Skuas operating from HMS Ark Royal (8 May 1940). Then on the 28 May 1940 V1 and V3 were attacked at their moorings by three Hurricanes. V6 was thought to have still been in existence in 1944, and its eventual fate unknown. Now there is a pile of interesting research for you, with the possibility of putting Wiki straight! Anyway, it is a beautiful aeroplane and it needed a second look to verify the existence of FOUR engines. Look and you will see - sometimes.
